It took me from January 1 to January 13 to get to the first 100 miles in this 2,015 Miles Challenge. Well above pace, so I am relieved about that. This way, if something comes up at some point, I am able to take a few days off without having to catch up.
My plan is to get in 7 miles on weekdays and 10 miles on Saturday and Sunday. It has worked out very well thus far, and I have been able to get in a few extra miles on each of the weekend days. Again, very helpful if I get behind.
While most of the miles I am logging has been running, I have definitely had to lean on walking miles to keep me going. The legs are consistently sore and getting going each day is rough. After a mile or so when I get warmed up, the legs don't hurt as bad. The sore legs and tight muscles I inherited from my parents make it a much bigger challenge. When I get to feeling sorry for myself, I remind myself of all of the people who would give everything they had to be able to get up and walk or go on a run. That is one of the strongest motivators I have found is the thought that there will be a day when I won't be able to walk and will look back on these days with fondness. Just being capable to do this makes me a lucky human being.
Another 7 miles tomorrow and on to the 200 mile mark. Cheers.

ReplyDeleteYes ma'am. Getting there slowly but surely. Helps to be in a new place and get some exploring done at the same time.
